TIFF to PDF Converter

Turn TIFF scans and faxes into one PDF, with every page of a multi-page file. Put the pages in order and download. Free, and your files stay on your device.

Why convert TIFF to PDF?

TIFF is the format scanners and fax machines use. It keeps pages sharp, but Chrome, Edge and Firefox can't open it, and many upload forms won't take it.

A PDF opens everywhere. Converting your TIFF files puts every page into one PDF that's easy to email, print or upload. A multi-page TIFF keeps all its pages, in order.

How to convert TIFF to PDF

1

Add your TIFF files

Drop one or more TIFF or TIF files into the box above. JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and HEIC images can go into the same PDF.

2

See every page

Each page of a multi-page TIFF shows up as its own thumbnail, numbered like scan.tiff (2/12), so none are missed.

3

Put the pages in order

Drag the thumbnails to reorder pages, or use the keyboard. Rotate a page that's sideways, or remove one you don't need.

4

Choose page settings

Pick A4, Letter or Legal, or Fit image to make each PDF page the shape of its scan. Then set orientation and margins.

5

Download the PDF

Click Create PDF to save one PDF with a page for every TIFF page and image, in the order you set.

Every page of a multi-page TIFF

Faxes and scans often hold many pages in one TIFF. Each page becomes its own page in the PDF, in the same order.

Reads scanner and fax files

Opens black-and-white fax pages (CCITT Group 3 and 4) and scans saved with LZW, ZIP, PackBits or JPEG, in grayscale, color or CMYK.

No quality lost

Pages go into the PDF pixel for pixel, so the text on faxes and scans stays as sharp as the original.

Combine several files

Add as many TIFF files as you need, plus JPG, PNG or HEIC images, and join them into a single PDF.

Private by design

Your files are converted on your device. They're never uploaded.

Works in any modern browser

Most browsers can't open TIFF on their own. A small TIFF reader loads the first time you add one, in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.

Who converts TIFF files to PDF?

Anyone who works with scans, faxes or document archives.

Fax archives

Send scanned records and claim forms as one PDF instead of loose image files.

Benefits of converting TIFF to PDF in your browser

There's no software to install, and your scans stay private.

  • Private. Scans of IDs, contracts and records never leave your device.
  • Every page. Multi-page TIFFs come through complete and in order.
  • Lossless. Pages keep every pixel of the original scan.
  • One file. Several TIFFs and images become a single PDF.
  • No software needed. It works in the browser on your phone or computer.
  • Free, with no sign-up and no watermark.

How TIFF to PDF conversion works

First, each TIFF is read in your browser, one page at a time, by a small reader that loads when you add your first TIFF. Every page becomes a lossless PNG image and appears as a thumbnail.

Then each page is placed on its own PDF page, using your page size, margin and fit settings. The PDF is saved to your device.

Page options and supported TIFF files

Set these once, and they apply to every page in the PDF.

Tips for converting TIFF files to PDF

A few small choices make a better PDF.

  1. Tip 1:

Check the page order before you create the PDF. The pages follow the thumbnails.

  2. Tip 2:

Use Fit image for scans, so each PDF page keeps the shape of the original.

  3. Tip 3:

Use A4 or Letter with a small margin for pages you plan to print.

  4. Tip 4:

Remove blank fax pages before converting, so the PDF is shorter.

  5. Tip 5:

Compress the PDF afterwards if an upload form has a size limit.

  6. Tip 6:

Need to search the text? Run OCR PDF on the finished file.

TIFF to PDF: frequently asked questions

How do I convert TIFF to PDF for free?
Add your TIFF files above, check the pages and click Create PDF. You get one PDF, free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
Can I convert a multi-page TIFF to PDF?
Yes. Every page in the TIFF becomes a page in the PDF, in the same order. Each one shows as its own thumbnail first, so you can reorder, rotate or remove pages.
How do I combine multiple TIFF files into one PDF?
Add all the TIFF files at once, or add more from the editor. Drag the pages into the order you want, then create one PDF from all of them.
What is the best way to convert TIFF to PDF without losing quality?
The best way keeps every page lossless. Here, each TIFF page goes into the PDF pixel for pixel, so fax and scan text stays sharp. Choose Fit image to keep each page its original shape.
What is a TIFF file?
TIFF is an image format made for high-quality scans. Scanners, fax software and archives use it because one file can hold many lossless pages. Most browsers can't open it, which makes a PDF easier to share.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, and your TIFF files never leave your device.
Does it work with fax TIFF files?
Yes. Black-and-white fax pages compressed with CCITT Group 3 or Group 4 come out the right way round. Scans saved with LZW, ZIP, PackBits or JPEG work too.
Why can't my TIFF file be read?
A few rare TIFF types aren't supported, such as 4-bit grayscale, grayscale with transparency and 16-bit CMYK. Very large pages, over about 16 million pixels, can't be read either. Save the file again as a standard TIFF or PNG, then try again.
Can I make the PDF searchable?
Not in this step, because the PDF holds images of your pages. To make the text searchable, run the finished PDF through OCR PDF.
Will the PDF be too big to email?
Scanned pages add up. After converting, run Compress PDF, or set a target size such as 1 MB for email and upload forms.
